Wait. Is Sarah Palin Socialist too?

Whatever your views, please watch the video and comment.

From The New Yorker’s interview segment of Letter from Alaska:The State of Sarah Palin on September 22, 2008:

Palin: “And Alaska—we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.” And she said, “Our state constitution—it lays it out for me, how I’m to conduct business with resource development here as the state C.E.O. It’s to maximize benefits for Alaskans, not an individual company, not some multinational somewhere, but for Alaskans.”

That does in fact characterize Socialism.

Reporter Philip Gourevitch: Alaska is sometimes described as America’s socialist state, because of its collective ownership of resources—an arrangement that allows permanent residents to collect a dividend on the state’s oil royalties. It has been Palin’s good fortune to govern the state at a time of record oil prices, which means record dividend checks: two thousand dollars for every Alaskan. And because high oil prices also mean staggering heating bills in such a cold place—and because it’s always good politics to give money to voters—Palin got the legislature this year to send an extra twelve hundred dollars to every Alaskan man, woman, and child.

It’s not socialism if you’re a Republican…it’s sound fiscal management.

Dear God, the idea of having to deal with this woman past next Tuesday just makes me ill. For the record: No John, Sarah is not my role model, nor could she ever be… My role models all know how to read.

Mike, I saw this report and I am so glad you took it and ran! Good job!! ~k

Palin’s not fit to run the country but it’s people like the guy in the video that are so masturbatorily giddy with themselves over the point they wish to make that could lead a person to lose their reason and vote against them out of spite.

It’s like no one thinks they can show both sides of a story and still be able to trust that the person can make a concrete decision one way or the other. It has to be up one flagpole or the other, so high it hurts your underwear, and the issues get lost in the process.

I guarantee you if someone would’ve said to me “Hey, Palin said one thing but did another” I could still retain the ability to decide she was nuts. Now that the guy in the video delivered his script like that, I’d have sex with her before voting for Obama. It drives me -that- mad.

Victor, Olbermann is the Liberal O’Reilly. I knew all that stuff. But to his credit he did target Hillary Clinton just as fiercely a few months back.

Huh what a shocker. People fail to realize that our government right now is already a mix between capitalism and socialism. Great post, as always.

    -Cheers

Holy crap, that’s Keith Olbermann? I’d always heard the name, never seen the face.

They’re both maroons. Not to be confused with macaroons, which are in fact delicious.

I think the term ’sharing the wealth’ should be endorsed in the next U.S constitution lol along with the ‘pursuit of happiness’ ..unless pursuit of happiness means just that..a pursuit with no end..
