Articles of Faith: A Zen Poem and an Alan Watts Audio Clip
My digital painting “Funk 1,2″
This week I didn’t quite have the time to do as thorough a post as I would have liked and rather than give you a half-baked post, I leave you with a Zen inspired poem which describes my relationship with God in the terms of a kind of dream. The second part of this post is an excerpt from a lecture by PhD theologian and philosopher Alan Watts (1915-1973) about what life may really mean. Until then… be waxful!
A Poet’s Prayer When Dreaming: Rapid Eye Movement”
Bathe me now in twilight,
For you are my intuition’s true permission to dream past the hours;
You, my brainstorm showers,
Bring Imagination’s Flowers into bloom.
Grab me now in hindsight,
For my third eye’s fuel ignition to fly past these towers;
It, my superpower,
Brings entire nations’ cowards to the Moon!
Bless me now with insight,
For you are my inhibitions’ true transition to death in these hours,
These, my sleeping hours,
Wrought from all the agitation they consume.
Cloak me now with foresight,
For you are my inner visions’ future rhythm in breadth and great power;
Those, my morning hours,
Free me from the many limits of my plume.

Lovely poem. I really enjoyed it!
